How to remove a background

    Drop a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 25 MB on the box, or click it to select one. You can also try a demo photo.

  2. 2. Let the AI cut it out

    The photo goes to our server and the AI removes the background. Move the divider to compare the cutout with the original.

  3. 3. Choose a background

    Keep it transparent, or select white, black, a colour or a blur of the original. Smooth the edge, or fix spots by hand with the brush.

  4. 4. Download

    Download the PNG, or copy it to paste somewhere else.

Is Remove background free?

You get free runs every day, with or without an account. After that, each run costs credits, which needs an account. See the pricing page for the current numbers. Free runs reset every day at 00:00 UTC.

Do I get a transparent PNG?

Yes. The download is a PNG at the same size as your original. The background is transparent unless you select white, black, a colour or a blur of the original.

Are my photos stored?

No. Your photo is sent over HTTPS to our server, processed in memory, and never written to disk or stored. It is not used to train AI, and no person sees it. This tool has no on-device mode: our server always does the work.

Can I fix the edge or a part removed by mistake?

Yes. Edge Smooth softens the outline. Fix by hand gives you a brush: Restore brings back what was removed by mistake, and Erase removes what was left. Undo with Ctrl/⌘+Z.

Can I remove the background from many photos at once?

Yes, up to 10 photos at a time in the section above. Each photo comes back as a 1024×1024 white JPG for marketplace listings and as a transparent PNG, all in one zip. Each photo counts as one run.

Which files can I use?

JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 25 MB each. The cutout is made by BiRefNet, an AI model that runs on our own server.
