Fair terms for thoughtful tools

These terms set out how you can use Yangopen, our applications, and our on-device browser utilities.

Last updated: September 24, 2026

Yangopen provides software and web utilities built with privacy, local execution, and straightforward terms in mind.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Yangopen (yangopen.com), downloading our software, or using any of our browser utilities, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website or services.

2. Browser-Based Tools & Local Processing

Yangopen provides a suite of browser-based utilities (such as Background Removal, Image Compression, Optical Character Recognition, Audio Transcription, and Text-to-Speech). Some of these tools run on your local device via modern browser engines, WebAssembly, and local workers; others send what you give them to a server to be processed.

Your input files, photos, audio files, and documents remain under your control and are not stored or harvested on Yangopen servers. Which tools run on your device and which process data on our servers is listed in the Privacy Policy. You are solely responsible for ensuring you possess the rights and permissions to process any materials you submit.

3. Native Applications

Our native mobile applications (such as PhaseSnap and PaperHear) are distributed via the Apple App Store. In addition to these Terms, use of those applications is subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and any product-specific agreements.

4. Intellectual Property & Your Ownership

Your Content: You retain complete ownership and all rights to your original files, images, processed results, notes, and exported documents created with our tools.

Yangopen Materials: The design, typography, source code, logos, visual identity, and software implementations of Yangopen belong to Yangopen and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reverse engineer, resell, or distribute our source code or services without explicit written permission.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse Yangopen services, including but not limited to:

  • Using tools to process unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or abusive content.
  • Attempting to probe, scan, or breach the security of our website, infrastructure, or network.
  • Engaging in automated scraping, denial of service attacks, or excessive requests that degrade system availability.

6. Payment, Credit and Refunds

Prices. The Add credit page shows the price of each pack. For card payments, the payment provider is the merchant of record on the transaction: it charges your card, and where sales tax or VAT applies it calculates it at checkout and shows you the total before you pay. For bank transfers in Vietnam, you pay Yangopen directly, and the amount shown is the amount you transfer.

Credit. Prepaid credit is not money and not cryptocurrency. It is spent on the tools that run on our servers; tools that run on your own device cost nothing. Credit cannot be transferred to another account. Your balance is always visible on the Account page.

Expiry. Credit does not expire. Whatever balance you hold stays usable until you spend it.

Price changes. We may change credit prices. A new price applies to later purchases only; credit you have already bought keeps its value.

Refunds. Unspent credit is refundable within 14 days of purchase. Spent credit is not. Every case, and how to ask, is in the Refund Policy.

Withdrawal right and immediate delivery. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Norway, you have a 14-day right to cancel. By spending credit you ask us to deliver the result immediately and acknowledge that you lose the withdrawal right for the credit you have used. If you would rather keep that right, do not spend the credit until the 14 days have passed.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Yangopen services and browser utilities are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. While we strive for precision and reliability, we do not guarantee that the tools will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or entirely accurate for mission-critical legal or life-safety tasks.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Yangopen and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue arising out of your use or inability to use our website, tools, or applications.

9. Modifications to Terms

We may revise these Terms of Service periodically to reflect changes in our products, legal requirements, or operational needs. Any updates will be published on this page with an updated revision date.

10. Contact
