What to include

Give your iPhone model, your iOS version, the game version shown on the About screen, the steps you took, what you expected and what happened.

  • During a run: tell us the stage, the hero and the minute when the problem happened.
  • Sound: tell us whether your iPhone is in Silent mode, and your sound settings in the game.
  • Screenshots or screen recordings: attach them if you have them. They help us find the problem faster.

How to play

  • Drag anywhere on the screen to move. Your weapons attack on their own.
  • Defeated spirits drop orbs. Collect them to level up, and choose 1 of 3 upgrades each time.
  • Night falls 37 seconds into every run. In the dark you see only what your lantern lights, and your weapons aim only as far as your light reaches.
  • Kills at night give double experience. Will-o'-wisps appear only at night.
  • Defeating spirits charges the Flare. When the button at the bottom right is full, tap it to flood the screen with light, stunning and burning the spirits.
  • When a shrine appears, follow the arrow at the edge of the screen and stand inside the shrine for a few seconds to light it. You receive a blessing and a pool of light that never goes out.
  • Hold out until the boss appears, then defeat it. The coins you collect buy permanent upgrades at the Village Hall.

The How to Play screen in the game explains all of this again.

Quick answers

The night is very dark. Is something wrong?

No. Darkness is the heart of the game: at night you see only what your light reaches, and spirits beyond it show only their eyes. To see farther, buy Lantern Wick at the Village Hall, take Lamp Oil when a level-up offers it, light every shrine you find and use the Flare when you are surrounded. Raising the screen brightness of your iPhone also helps.

What can I do if I hear no sound?

In the game, open Settings and check that music and sound effects are on and the volume is up. The game follows the Silent mode of your iPhone: if the iPhone is silent, the game is silent too. Turn Silent mode off and use the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone.

Does the game need an internet connection?

No. The game never connects to the internet and works in Airplane Mode.

Where is my progress saved? Can it be restored?

Progress is saved only on your iPhone. There is no account and no online save, so we cannot restore or move it for you. Deleting the game deletes its progress. If you restore your iPhone from a backup, or move to a new iPhone with Apple's transfer tools, the progress in that backup normally comes with it. If the app is closed in the middle of a run, that run cannot be continued, but the coins, upgrades, heroes, stages and records you had before are kept.

How do I start again from zero?

In the game, open Settings > Reset Progress and confirm. This erases your coins, upgrades, unlocked heroes and stages, achievements and records, and it cannot be undone.

Can I get my coins back after buying upgrades?

Yes. At the Village Hall you can refund all upgrades at any time and get back every coin you spent.

How do I unlock heroes and stages?

Every locked hero or stage shows what opens it. Clearing a stage opens the next one: Rice Paddies, Eastern Shore, Bamboo Forest, then Endless Night. Heroes are unlocked with coins you earn by playing or by clearing a stage. Nothing in the game is sold for real money.

How do I change the language?

The game follows the language of your iPhone and has 10 languages: English, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. To choose a language for this game only, open the Settings app of your iPhone, find Văn Lang in the list of apps (under Apps on iOS 18 or later) and tap Language. That option appears only when your iPhone has more than one preferred language.

Which iPhones are supported?

Any iPhone running iOS 17 or later. The game is played in portrait.

How do I get a refund for the purchase?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so we cannot see your purchase or refund it ourselves. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose “I'd like to”, then “Request a refund”, pick a reason, select the game and submit. Apple decides on every request.

Does the game collect my data?

No. The game collects no data and has no ads and no tracking. Details are in the privacy policy, which is also shown on the About screen of the game.
