Quick answers

What can PaperHear import?

PaperHear supports PDFs, TXT and Markdown files, supported HTTPS articles, pasted text and camera scans processed with on-device OCR.

Does PaperHear require an account?

No. Your Library, reading position, notes and downloaded voices are stored on your iPhone. PaperHear does not currently offer accounts or automatic cross-device sync.

How do the voices work?

PaperHear offers 13 voices that run on your iPhone, in Vietnamese, English and Mandarin Chinese (with an optional pinyin line under each Chinese sentence). A voice pack is downloaded only when you ask to download it or press Play for a voice that is not installed; PaperHear does not silently fall back to an Apple voice.

How do I save a document as an audio file?

Open the document, tap the reader's menu and choose Save audio file. PaperHear reads the whole document with the selected voice into one M4A file, then iOS lets you choose where to save it. It all happens on your iPhone; nothing is uploaded.

Can I back up and restore my Library?

Yes. In Settings > Data controls you can save a copy of your Library or restore from one. Restoring only adds the documents that are missing.

What is PaperHear Plus?

Free includes three imports each month. Buy Plus once on the App Store for unlimited imports. Voice packs remain free.

Where does PaperHear resume?

PaperHear stores the current document, section and sentence so a long document continues where you stopped.
