Retouch Studio / Privacy

Your photos
stay on your Mac

Below is every time Retouch Studio or yangopen.com handles data when you use the app, and which data it is.

Effective: 30 October 2026

Summary: Retouch Studio processes photos on your Mac. We do not receive your photos, your edits or anything taken from them. The app goes online only to activate and to check your licence. For that, yangopen.com keeps your account, a one-way hash of your Mac's id, the Mac name, a country read from your network address, dates and your orders.

1. Scope

This policy applies to Retouch Studio for Mac and to the Retouch Studio pages on yangopen.com, including the activation page and the Apps section of the Account page. Retouch Studio is made and sold by Yang Yang HOANG LE, an individual developer in Vietnam who runs Yangopen (“we”). Your Yangopen account is covered by the Yangopen privacy policy.

2. What stays on your Mac

  • Photos: the originals you open and the photos you export are read and written on the Mac. When you drag a photo into the app, the app keeps a temporary copy on the Mac and deletes it when you close the photo or quit the app.
  • Photo analysis: faces, bodies, skin, hair and backgrounds are analysed on the Mac and sent nowhere.
  • Your edits, saved looks and settings.
  • Licence: the licence token signed by yangopen.com and a secret the app uses to renew it.

We cannot see this data.

3. Activation and licence checks

When you activate a Mac, and each time the app checks the licence (every few days), yangopen.com receives and keeps:

  • A hashed Mac id: the app sends an id it derives one way from the Mac's hardware id; we keep only a SHA-256 fingerprint of that id. It tells us “the same Mac”, not who you are.
  • The Mac name the app sends (for example “Lan's MacBook Pro”), so that you can recognise the Mac in your list of Macs.
  • The app version.
  • A country read from your network (IP) address at activation and at the latest check, so that you can recognise a request that is not yours. We do not keep the IP address itself in the list of Macs.
  • Dates: activation, the latest check, removal.
  • The Yangopen account that approved the activation, and that account's plan: plan type, start date, end date, trial.

The 8-character activation code expires after 10 minutes. Like every website, the server sees your IP address and uses it, hashed, to limit how many requests are sent.

4. Payments

When you buy a plan, we keep the order: amount, currency, order code, status, payment date. Card payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh) as the merchant of record; we do not see your card number. Bank transfers are confirmed through ApiPay; we receive the amount and the transfer note. Details are in the Yangopen privacy policy.

5. What we use this data for

Only to issue and check licences, to limit each plan to 2 Macs, to give each account and each Mac one trial, to show you your list of Macs, to prevent abuse, and to answer you when you ask for help. No advertising, no sale, and no training of any model.

6. How long we keep it

  • Removed Macs: we keep the name, country and dates for 12 months, to apply the removal limit and to answer support questions.
  • Orders: as long as accounting and tax law require.
  • Trial records: when you delete your Yangopen account, the record is unlinked from the account; the Mac's fingerprint stays, only so that the same Mac does not get a second trial.

7. Your rights

You can see and remove your Macs in Account › Apps. To ask what we keep, or to correct or delete it, e-mail [email protected].

8. Children

Retouch Studio is a work tool and is not for children. We do not knowingly keep data about children.

9. Changes and contact

If a later version handles data differently, we update this page and the date above, at the latest when that version is released. If a version would ever send photos off your Mac, the app will ask you first. Send privacy questions to [email protected].
