What is ChillPenny?
ChillPenny is an iPhone app that plans a hangout from the money you want to spend. It finds places near you with Apple Maps, estimates the price per person, builds a schedule and helps you split the bill with friends. The app is in Vietnamese.
How do I make my first plan?
The first time you open the app, set a spending limit and allow location. On the Explore tab, the Plans section shows ready-made plans around you. Tap the time bar at the top to pick a time, a style and the kind of place. When you like a plan, tap to use it: it becomes a plan on the Plans tab.
Where do the prices come from?
Prices are estimates for the kind of place (restaurant, cafe, park and so on) and start with a ~. They are not the venue's own prices, and real prices can differ. When you log what you really spent at a stop, the app uses your number for that place next time. That number stays on your iPhone.
Why can't I find a place I want?
Places come from Apple Maps, so a place that is not on Apple Maps does not appear. Type its name in the search field in Nearby, or change the location in the bar at the top.
How does the app use my location?
The app asks for your location only while you use it, to find places near you through Apple Maps. ChillPenny has no server of its own, so it does not send your location to us. You can change this in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > ChillPenny.
How do I split the bill with friends?
Open a plan, scroll to Split and type the names of the people with you. The app divides the total into shares and shows what each person owes. You can copy the result and paste it into your group chat. Your friends do not need the app.
How do VietQR codes work?
You save your bank and account number once. They stay in the Keychain on your iPhone and are not synced to iCloud. When you open a split QR code, the app sends the bank code, account number, account holder's name, amount and transfer note to img.vietqr.io, which draws the code. At no other time does the app send them. The privacy policy has the details.
What does ChillPenny Pro add?
Pro is a one-time in-app purchase: PDF itineraries, Excel spending sheets (they open in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers), iCloud sync and the Upcoming Plan widget. Everything that is free stays free. No subscription, no ads.
How much is Pro?
In Vietnam, ChillPenny Pro costs 99,000 VND. In other countries, Apple shows the price for your country on the ChillPenny Pro screen before you buy. You pay once; it does not renew and nothing is charged again.
How do I get Pro back on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Settings > ChillPenny Pro in the app and tap Restore Purchases. This needs an internet connection.
How does iCloud sync work?
iCloud sync is part of Pro and is off by default. When you turn it on in Settings, your plans, stops, the people with you, the spending you logged, your ratings and your saved plans are also stored in your own iCloud (Apple's private database; we cannot read it), so they appear on your devices with the same Apple Account. VietQR account numbers, photos, your profile and settings are not synced.
If I delete the app, do I lose my plans?
Yes, unless iCloud sync is on: plans are stored only on your iPhone, and the app has no account or server. Your iPhone backup may contain the app's data. Pro is not lost: reinstall the app and tap Restore Purchases.
How do I delete all my data?
Open Settings in the app and tap Delete All Data. On this iPhone the app deletes your plans, the people with you, spending, ratings, saved plans, bank and account number, profile, exported PDF / Excel files and the widget's content. If iCloud sync is on, the data in iCloud and on your other devices with the same Apple Account is deleted too. Photos saved to your library and events added to Calendar are not deleted. This cannot be undone.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles purchases, so we cannot see your transaction or refund it ourselves. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose “I'd like to”, then “Request a refund”, pick a reason, choose the purchase and submit. Apple decides every request.
Does the app need an internet connection?
Yes, to find places, show maps and directions, make VietQR codes, download exchange rates and buy Pro. Your saved plans stay on your iPhone.
Which devices and languages does it support?
Any iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The app is in Vietnamese.
When will it be on the App Store?
ChillPenny is coming soon to the App Store. When it is released, this page will have a download link.
