Brim / Terms

Terms of use

These terms apply when you download and use Brim for Mac.

Effective: 3 November 2026

1. Scope and acceptance

Brim is a Mac app made by Yang Yang HOANG LE, an individual developer in Vietnam who runs Yangopen (“we”). By downloading or using Brim, you accept these terms.

2. License

We give you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Brim on your Macs, for personal use or for your work. There is no limit on the number of Macs. The app is licensed, not sold.

3. Free of charge

Brim is free and needs no account. If a paid part is ever added, we will state its price first; you are never charged unless you choose to buy.

4. Downloads and updates

Download Brim only from yangopen.com or Brim’s releases page on GitHub (github.com/yangyang1508/brim-releases). A copy from anywhere else may have been changed. Brim tells you when a new version is out; you choose whether to update.

5. Features that change Mac settings

These features run only when you turn them on, and they change how your Mac behaves:

  • Keep awake with the lid closed sets macOS’s pmset command, which needs an administrator password. Brim puts it back when you turn the feature off or quit the app. A closed Mac that keeps running can get warm; do not put it in a closed bag.
  • Keyboard lock blocks every key until you unlock it with the pointer, from the notch.
  • Scroll direction, mouse buttons, the Logitech mouse wheel, the volume and brightness keys, hiding menu bar icons.

Some features use parts of macOS that Apple does not publish, and may stop working when Apple updates macOS.

6. What you may not do

Sell Brim; distribute a changed copy; reverse engineer, disassemble or decompile the app or try to get its source code, unless the law clearly allows it; use Brim to capture, record or listen in breach of the law, or against other people’s rights. You may share the official download link.

7. Your content

Pictures, videos and text you make with Brim are yours. Translations and text from speech are made by a machine and can be wrong; check them before you send them.

8. Updates and availability

Features and supported macOS versions can change when Brim updates. We may stop developing Brim.

9. Intellectual property

The app, its design and the name Brim belong to Yangopen. Apple, Mac, macOS, AirDrop and AirPods are trademarks of Apple Inc. Logitech is a trademark of Logitech.

10. Limitation of liability

Brim is free and provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data or indirect damage. Nothing here limits your rights under the consumer protection law where you live. These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam.
