Claude MCP connector: use Yangopen's photo and voice tools inside Claude

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is how Claude calls another service's tools during a conversation. Add https://yangopen.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, sign in to Yangopen once, then ask Claude to remove a background, sharpen or expand a photo, or read Vietnamese or English text aloud as an MP3. Each image tool has 5 free runs a day (at the time of writing), then costs credits.

MCP in short

An MCP server lets Claude use another service's tools: Claude reads the list, picks the one that fits what you asked, sends the request and puts the result in the chat. In Claude, a remote MCP server is called a connector.

Yangopen's connector lives at https://yangopen.com/mcp. Every request needs you signed in to a Yangopen account (through OAuth), so the free runs and credits are counted to the right person. Claude's Free plan can add one custom connector; paid plans can add more.

Tools you can use in Claude

  • Free: read text aloud with 16 free voices, up to 3,000 characters a call, counted against the account's daily free allowance; convert Vietnamese text typed in the old TCVN3 and VNI fonts to Unicode; convert a time between time zones.
  • 5 free runs a day for each, then 25 credits a run: remove a background (transparent PNG), colorize a black-and-white photo, sharpen and enlarge a photo, expand a photo to a new shape, scan a photo of a page, Word to PDF.
  • Plus voices: 25 credits per 1,000 characters, charged only once the MP3 is ready.
  • Helpers: check your credit balance, search the voices, and get a link to upload a photo or a Word file.

How to add it to Claude on the web and in the apps

  1. Open the AI assistants page Sign in to Yangopen, go to Account › AI assistants (MCP), choose Claude and press Add YangOpen to Claude. Claude opens its add-connector dialog with the name and address filled in.
  2. Press Add Press Add. If it asks about the OAuth client, choose Register automatically.
  3. Connect your account Press Connect, sign in to Yangopen, then press Allow. You do this once.
  4. Try it Send Claude: “Use YangOpen to check my credit balance.”
  • No dialog? On claude.ai go to Customize › Connectors › Add › Add custom connector, name it YangOpen and paste https://yangopen.com/mcp. If your Claude account belongs to an organisation (Team, Enterprise), its owner has to add it first.

How to add it to Claude Code

Run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user yangopen https://yangopen.com/mcp in a terminal, or send that line to Claude Code and let it run it. --scope user makes the connector available in every folder. Then quit and reopen Claude Code, type /mcp, choose yangopen › Authenticate, sign in and press Allow.

Added on claude.ai already? Claude Code on the same Claude account has it too.

Giving Claude a photo

Claude cannot pass a photo from the chat to a tool by itself. For a photo or a Word file, Claude gives you an upload link that works for 1 hour: open it, choose the file, then tell Claude it is done. In Claude Code, Claude uploads a file from your computer itself. The result is a download link that works for 24 hours. A few things to try:

  • “Remove the background from my photo, then sharpen it.”
  • “Expand this photo to 9:16 for a Story.”
  • “Read this in Iris's voice: Good morning, everyone.”
  • “Find a northern Vietnamese female Plus voice and read my shop’s welcome line.”

What it costs, and where data goes

  • Free runs reset at 00:00 UTC. Credit is charged only when the result is ready, and the answer states what was charged and the balance left. Current prices are on the pricing page.
  • Your text is not stored. Uploaded photos and files are kept for 24 hours so Claude can keep working with them, then deleted.
  • Free voices send the text to an outside speech service; Plus voices run on Yangopen's own server.
  • To disconnect: on the AI assistants page, press Disconnect. An assistant that is already open may keep access for about a minute.

When you do not need the connector

  • Many photos at once, such as 10 white-background photos for a marketplace: the Remove background page is faster.
  • Private photos you do not want sent to a server: use the tools that run in your browser, such as Compress image, Resize & add logo and HEIC to JPG. The connector only has tools that run on a server.
  • Long text with background music, or M4A, WAV and SRT subtitle downloads: use the Text to speech page. The connector returns MP3.
